The latter is situated in a unique landscape surrounded by the Canin and Montasio mountain ridges where, starting from the 2008-2009 season, the Italian skiing facilities are going to be connected with the Slovenian ones in Plezzo, thus confirming Tarvisio as the first across-the-border town of Italy's North-East.
In addition, the area offers well-marked hiking trails for year-round trips through breathtaking landscapes, and the possibility of snowshoeing, horse-riding and horse-drawn sledge rides.

Even wellness has no borders in Tarvisio
Inside the hotel, a brand-new Wellness Centre will offer guests pleasant emotions and relaxing moments. For those wanting a more in-depth regeneration
and treatment, several famous spas are within a short distance, with offers ranging from spa baths to wellness treatments up to rehabilitation therapies.
The Austrian Warmbad-Villach spa, located not far from Tarvisio, is famous for its peculiar pool built 550 years ago and for the 40 million litres of water gushing every day from the depths of the earth at a temperature of 29.5°C. Another spa, Bad Bleiberg, lies close to Villach as well, featuring an indoor and an outdoor pool, Turkish bath, Finnish and herb sauna, and several treatments for the wellbeing of body and mind.

Events
The area of Tarvisio features events all year round with a great number of village fairs and festivals, sports and cultural initiatives attesting to the extraordinary blend
of history, culture and traditions marking this region.
Four are the summer events with food and wine, folklore and music celebrating the overcoming of borders among local populations: International Alpine Meeting at Passo Pramollo in June, Friendship Festival of Goriane (near Tarvisio), and Friendship Festival Friuli-Carinthia at Passo Pramollo in August, and, to close the season, the Friendship Festival of Monte Forno-Dreiländereck-Pec in Fusine.
No Borders Music Festival is a music event that takes place in Tarvisio in July and hosts some among the best artists of the international music scene.
Golf Challenge of Champions, Tarvisio, August: international golf competition organized at the Tarvisio Golf Club. The event celebrates the golf-winter sports match and the international love for sports, starring the best golf players of the Alpe Adria Area and Italian, Austrian and Slovenian snow and ice champions.
Festa di San Nicolò, Val Canale, December: a feast celebrating Saint Nicholas with his monstrous assistant, the Krampus, filling the village alleys with an evocative and charming atmosphere.
Ein Prosit in Tarvis, December, food and wine event: 150 food and wine producers set up an exhibition-tasting party of their specialties at Palazzo Veneziano in Malborghetto. This appointment is accompanied by several other events throughout the area, dinners and meetings offering opportunities for a closer look at this region's rich world of taste.
